new bikes launched in 2013

A while ago, we brought you buzz about a brand new entry level motorcycle in Japanese motorcycle major Kawasaki’s global sportsbike line up, in the form of the Ninja 300R. This very motorcycle is heading to US shores later this year, at a price of S4,799, which is about $ 600 greater than the price at which the 2012 model year version of the Ninja 250R used to sell for. So, the bigger engined model, which produces significantly more power is just about INR 35,000 higher than the smaller engined model, which has us a little excited.
2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300R Sports Motorcycle FrontIn India, Bajaj Auto, Kawasaki’s Indian partner, sells the Ninja 250R at a price of about INR 3 lakhs. The 2012 Ninja 250R is imported into the country through the completely knocked down(CKD) route, with kits arriving from Thailand, and later being assembled by Bajaj Auto at Chakan, in the India Kawasaki Motor assembly facility. Now that the 2013 Ninja 250R is due for India, we’re wondering whether Bajaj Auto will decide to play Santa Claus and launch the bigger engined 300cc version, at the same price or with a modest price increase to the tune of about INR 30,000 or so.
2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300R Sports Motorcycle Profile
Bajaj Auto, has had a long and colorful history of extreme competitive pricing, undercutting the competition every now and then. The Ninja 250R though, with its high price tag, has never been seen as value-for-money. Rather, it has been a motorcycle that is a flagship sportsbike in Bajaj Auto’s range along with the Ninja 650R. However, Bajaj has once again played the value card by pricing the 2012 version of the Ninja 650R very competitively. So, the expectations are at an all time high, for Bajaj Auto to bring the 300cc version, which is a step up from the Ninja 250R.
2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300R Sports Motorcycle Rear
The 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300R comes with a 296cc, parallel twin cylinder engine that churns out a peak power of 39 Bhp at 11,000 rpm and a peak torque of 27 Nm at 10,000 rpm. The engine is liquid cooled, features a DOHC layout driving 4 valves and is mated to a 6 speed gearbox. With those power and torque figures, performance too is expected to be a step above the Ninja 250R. The Ninja 300R is available in ABS and non-ABS variants globally. The big question remains whether Bajaj Auto will bring the bigger engined model to India. History, seems to suggest that this is likely as Bajaj has been quick to give the Indian motorcycle enthusiast nifty upgrades. We have our fingers crossed.

Tvs Apache bikes

TVS was once known all over India for a small motorcycle named TVS 50 and then came the Scooty and Scooty Pep which dominated the entire women two-wheeler population. Now TVS is back with a mission to conquer the hearts of young men.
The TVS Apache RTR is an awesome 160cc bike with great performance and sporty looks. The priority for most of the young bikers in India starts with style, size, mileage, cost, power and finally features. TVS could have easily launched a 250cc bike and crowned itself as the manufacturer of the bike with the biggest engine in India. But engineers at TVS knew the Indian needs and came out with Apache RTR.
Right now, the new Apache RTR Refresh edition seems to be the best looking bike in the 150cc segment, but except for Yamaha FZ16 which some people consider more stylish. So the first priority is well take care of. The size of the bike is adequate. Even though it is not as majestic as the Karizma and Pulsar 220, it does a good job of making a 6 feet tall man satisfied with the bike.
According to the customer reviews of Apache RTR that we collected, it seems that a mileage figure of 46-48 kmpl can be labeled to this bike. A price tag of a little over Rs.65,000 for makes this bike affordable for many.
Performance: When I took it for a drive, the first word that came to my mind is WOW. I did not expect such a pickup from a bike in this segment. The throttle response is great and the bike comes to life with the slightest twist. You can easily reach 100kmph within a few seconds and still think that you are in 80kmph.
The riding posture is sporty. You have to extend your arms fully to reach the handle bars and lean forward a little which makes riding at high speed more comfortable because of better aerodynamics.
One thing which I can’t prevent myself from mentioning is that there is noticeable vibration which could be the only reason that you are not satisfied by Apache. Other customers have also noted this. Apache owner Prateek says – “Driving the bike is really a pleasure, but vibrations are there which distract your mind, but they will disappear if you will drive at a constant speed”
The dashboard has some nice digital display which includes the speedometer, fuel gauge, ODO Meter & time indicator. The tachometer dial at the side blends with the display and makes a good looking panel overall.
Final Verdict: This bike is a great buy if you are a fan of TVS, want good pickup, descent mileage and sporty looks. The bike may not satisfy you if you want to use it for touring in the highways because of the vibrations. Comparing this with the other bikes in 150cc segment, Yamaha FZ16 makes a better buy because of international branding and latest technology, but only if you are ready to shell out an extra ten thousand.
Apache RTR Specifications:
Engine: EFi 4 stroke
Displacement: 159.7 cc
Maximum Power: 11.5 KW (15.7 BHP) @ 8500 RPM
Maximal Torque: 13.1 N-m @ 6500 RPM

bmw bikes in india

BMW, the German luxury car maker is planning a re-entry into the high-end motorcyclemarket in India after a hiatus of 13 years. The initial attempt; a joint venture with the HeroGroup did not take off well.

Speaking about the proposed re entry, a senior official said, "The Company is studying India's high-end and premium motorcycle market to introduce its Motorrad range of super bikes in India". Peter Kronschnabl, president, BMW India added "Our people from BMW Motorcycle are having a look at the market. They are also in discussion with us for feedback on the matter. As soon as we see potential for a viable market entry for sustainable growth, we would take that into consideration."

Another BMW official said that the Motorrad bikes range will cost more than Rs. 10 lakh in India. The premium bike market is less than 500 units a year but is definitely good as far as branding and growth prospectus is concerned. The earlier joint venture with Hero; which took off with the launch of F650 failed to click.

Auto analysts say the market for top superbike models such as the Suzuki Hayabusa, Honda 1000RR Fireblade, Honda CBR 1000R, Yamaha MT01 and Yamaha R1 has grown and enhanced the appetite for Rs 10 lakh plus bikes. Besides, Bajaj has plans to launch big bikes from KTM and Kawasaki stables in the near future.

BMW officials have clarified that the plans are not for the short-term and it would take 1-2 years before things get finalized. The German company has used the brand BMW Motorrad since 1923. BMW Motorrad's G series, F series, R series and K series are available all around the world. Designed for off road, sport and touring purposes; the bikes range from 450 cc capacity to 1300 cc capacity.

The market for small bikes has been kept aside and interest for lifestyle bikes is expanding. This is proven by the sale of 93 bikes by Suzuki, 94 units by Yamaha in the Jan-Dec 2008 period. Mr. Atul Gupta, vice-president, marketing and sales Suzuki Motorcycle India said "We are regularly importing containers of our high-end bike Hayabusa and Intruder. Each container has up to 15 bikes and we are ordering new containers of bikes ever 1-2 months". He added that the company intends to sell 100 more high-end bikes costing up to Rs 12.5 lakh by the end of current fiscal.

Globally, Yamaha Motorcycles has a performance oriented brand image and is known for their technological excellence. Yamaha FZ (150)

IMO The best looking among the 3, the Yamaha FZ is a mean-looking naked street bike, again made for India inheriting from the European FZ1. Bajaj Auto plans to launch 2-stroke engines in India

Auto major Bajaj Auto has plans to launch two-stroke engines in the India market, sources said. The two-stroke engine had been a success in the past due to its higher torque (power), faster pickup and better vehicle stability due to the smaller engine.

Bajaj which made great strides in the two wheeler market through its DTSi technology has recently introduced the GDi (Gasoline Direct Injection) technology in its three wheelers. Bajaj Auto claims that the emissions are lower with GDi engines.
A senior Bajaj Auto executive said, “It is a big leap in the two-stroke technology and we are working to get it on our bikes and other two-wheelers. The gasoline direct injection (GDi) engine has substantially lower emissions than even alternate clean fuels like CNG and LPG. Additionally, it has lower operating costs than four-stroke technology that currently dominates the bike market. ”
The firm presently has a market cap worth Rs. 28,255 crore, PE of 22.78, EPS of 122.57. The company had posted a net profit of Rs. 336 crore in the quarter ended September, 2007 against Rs. 319 crore for the same quarter, last year.
